Groups at Heatherwood
Why join a group?
One of the 5 foundations of our church is Uncommon Community. God created us to be in relationship – with Him and with each other. Through these relationships we grow in our walk with Christ as we wrestle together with the truth of God’s Word, apply it to our lives, and hold each other accountable. Groups provide a place for you to know others and be known by others where you can develop strong personal relationships in a Christ-centered context.
Group Types
Sunday School
Sunday School is a place where you can engage in Bible study through traditional lecture style class, and experience fellowship with other believers. Sunday School classes meet year-round at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings. Class sizes can range between 5-50.
Small Groups
A small group is a community of 10-18 people who are becoming fully formed disciples. Some groups meet in homes throughout the community and others meet on campus at HBC. They begin with a conversational Bible study focusing on the application of God's Word before moving into a time of vulnerable accountability and prayer. Small Groups run on a semester schedule (January-May, August-December). In the summer, most small groups gather 3-4 times for fellowship or local missions projects.
Discipleship Groups
D-Groups are for believers looking for high-accountability, high-commitment discipleship. D-Groups are made up of 3-4 people of the same gender, and meet for 20-25 weeks.
