All About First Grade
In First Grade we use curriculums by Tara West for our Science, Social Studies, Phonics, Grammar and Writing, Math Curriculum, and Positive Action Bible Curriculum. Tara West’s phonics curriculum allows us to use her Science of Reading program to help our students become proficient in reading and writing using phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The Science and Social Studies curriculum allows students to perform hands-on, engaging activities as they explore these areas of study. Tara West Firstie Math allows students to use hands-on activities using manipulatives to extend their math concepts. The combination of these curriculum programs meet the Georgia Standards of Excellence to ensure our students receive the best education possible while maintaining a small class size in a Christian environment. Positive Action Bible Curriculum allows us to help build students' knowledge of the Bible and their relationship with Jesus Christ, which is our most important goal! Our First Graders will also attend field trips throughout the year to help enrich their learning experiences. In addition to our classroom, students will also enjoy Music, Art, STEAM, Spanish and Chapel as specials this year.
All About Second Grade
The Second Grade classroom will consist of a loving, interactive environment where students with a variety of learning styles engage in activities that challenge and produce successful results. Biblically based lessons will be taught using Positive Action Bible curriculum with an emphasis on scripture, worship music and prayer. Engaging, hands-on, critical thinking activities in the core subject areas of Math, ELA, Science and Social Studies will be taught using Tara West curriculum that aligns to state and national standards, as well as Abeka for Spelling and Phonics. An environment that involves community, mission and field trip opportunities, and technology will help promote a love for learning atmosphere. Second Graders will participate in specials classes which include Art, Music, STEAM, Spanish and Chapel. With small class sizes, teachers will have the opportunity to individualize instruction to cater to each student’s needs.
All About Third Grade
The third grade classroom harbors a calm, loving and kinesthetic environment to support students academic and spiritual growth. Students dive deep into Biblical lessons using the Positive Action Bible curriculum and demonstrate learning through scripture memorization, lesson activities and worship. Students also engage in core subjects such as Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. Third grade uses the "Not So Wimpy Teacher" Math curriculum along with differentiated learning materials to challenge students on all levels. For Science, Social Studies and Language Arts we use the Georgia Standards of Excellence to guide our learning. All learning materials for these subjects meet the Georgia State Standards while being sourced from Abeka and Scholastic. Students will participate in various service projects and field trips throughout the school year. Students also participate in specials such as Art, Music, STEAM, Spanish and Chapel.
